Toe separation also improves blood circulation to the feet as the toes are able to move freely. BALI Deep- THE PLACE OF GODS
“Stop thinking,just feel.”
Time and space continues to change and the whirl of information grows bigger as it draws us in.Our perception are always leveled through our environment and information, and are symbolizedas communication tools.Globalization became convenient and fast by standardizing our senses in this system of the city. Will there ever be a moment where we will stop thinking,if we continue to parasite in this city?

Made in Japan
"JOJO" are sandals made using traditional Japanese craftsmanship passed down over generations and reflecting Japan's origins.
For more than 100years in Kyoto,Naito a wekk-rstabilished footwear aritsan, has been making traditional sandals which are prastical and beafutiful.

This particular piece is one of a series of photographs that were taken in Iceland in 1995. This series as a whole captures the horizon that when placed side by side, the horizon appears to continue on eternally. This image mimics the actual horizon of the world, which continues on eternally without separation, and neither discrimination nor borders exists. My hope is that the world will be connected as one with equality and peace.
Originally, perception meant“seeing”and“listening”,and to recognize what something is.Seeing“red”is a sense.Seeing “a red apple”is a perception.Seeing a red color is a primitive sense. After seeing a red apple,if one feels“it looks good”or“it looks sour”,it will only come because of our personal perception.Perception can change depending on the individual, but sense is something we all have.
If we see a crimson twilight sky that we rarely see in the city and we feel“beautiful”,isn’t it a primitive sense that we all humans possess? That moment, you can feel yourself freed from“thinking”and only“feeling”.
We think that it is time to lose that border you have had with your perception, and just“feel”.We hope to recall your primitive senses by making you realize your five senses. We aim to express the primitive senses that we all humans possess, no matter ofboundaries, reces,
cultures,or religions, through“Bali Deep”. go to SHOP page
The scenes I see through a viewfinder of Linhof 617 give me particular impressions as if they are fictitious images fairly different from those in real existence. Why is it so? Is it because of the distortion caused by the lens of the viewfinder, or due to the vaguely wavering frame itself? No, the answer is not something as mechanical as that.
I love seeing such vague scenes coming through the viewfinder. They are more symbolic, poetic and yet more real than the scenes in actual light. In the picture projected to my eye, all the sounds that should be there strangely vanish; not a single sound is heard. It takes somewhere between a mere few minutes to less than an hour, but during that time, I find myself immersed in an innocent blissfulness that is beyond description. Then I print a piece of picture on the emulsion of a film. Such is the photographing of the series PEACE LAND to me, without any slightest exaggeration.
Sometimes, I am even under an illusion that the scene in light cut out in the ratio of 6 to 17, length to width, is not from an actual scene in reality. Such uncertain existence perceived in the viewfinder is instantly transformed into certain existence on a film. At that moment, I always encounter the sensation that can be described as a feeling of blissfulness. To put it another way, it is the feeling of thankfulness for being there at that very moment and of awe and respect toward the scene in light. It is also respect for my own life as well as for all living things.
There is no way of knowing where I, being a certain entity in existence, came from. However, the one and only soul dwells inside my body and keeps searching for its direction even now. My soul does not make a sound and remains unseen; and yet, it is soundly alive in real existence, that is, my photograph.
All the living things in this world, by the same token, exist under their respective souls. The moment that I realize that notion repeats, leading me to appreciate the world; and furthermore, this makes me realize that the thing it signifies is love.
I earnestly wish all the living things, with their dignity, would stay equal under the grace of the light we live in.
Meaning of the Name JOJO
There are many dialects that still reside in various part of Japan.
In particular, daily tools are called by different names depending on the region. The sandal koppori that maiko (apprentice geisha) wear has many names such as okobo, koppo, pokkuri, etc. Zori also is called differently depending on the dialect, and jojo is one of such names. Jojo is a very old word that many Japanese people probably will not recognize. However it is a word you see in the popular children’s song Haruyokoi (1).
